- Do not leave the grill on when starting the fire, the intense heat will warp the grill. Place the grill on the fire pit when the fire is at temperature to cook. A good guide is you place your hand 20cm above the hot coals (not flames), if you can hold your hand there for 3 seconds then have to pull away then the fire is ready for the grill, the grill will then take about 7 minutes to heat up and you are ready to cook.
- The BBQ cooking plate and grate comes pre-oiled with a thin protective layer of cooking oil. When you heat up the BBQ for the first time, scrape off the top layer using a stainless steel palette spatula. Once the grate is clean and hot, it is ready for the first application of oil. We recommend you use a cooking oil such as rapeseed oil - an oil with a high smoke point. Apply in thin layers using a cloth or paper towel. Gradually you will be able to see the formation of a protective, non-slip dark layer of oil. Remember to also apply oil to the sides of the BBQ plate and grate.
