Our corten fire pits create a perfect focal point for your yard and will patina over time. This piece can also be used for plants.
PATINA PROCESS:
The patina (or rust) acts as a protective barrier. The process occurs when water is introduced to the material. Our fire pits come fully assembled. *Please note that some of our fire pits are shipped in their RAW STATE.
WARNING:
Weathering steel products may produce carbon run off or staining to adjacent materials like stone or concrete. The stone and concrete can be cleaned with a carbon pacifier to remove any residual run off. After the initial reactive period, weathering steel will cure and self-seal with very little to no carbon run off.
Our Quality:The new fire pit is made from thicker, 6mm (1/4") durable Corten steel, a significant upgrade from the older, discontinued 4mm (3/16") version. The thickness of the structural steel distinguishes it from thinner metal sheet products and ensures decades of enjoyment. The pit will naturally oxidize to a red color, typically within a year. The patina layer then protects the pit from further corrosion. There is no paint or coating; the raw Corten steel can last for decades with minimal maintenance.
TO MAKE WATER BOWL, YOU MUST PLUG THE DRAIN HOLES. WE RECOMMEND FILLING WITH EPOXY.
Note: The fire bowl is delivered without a rusted surface. However, this will develop on its own over a period of 4-5 months, depending on the weather conditions and location. For faster results, the element can be treated with a rust accelerator.
